Seniors at the Elaine H. Lucas Senior Center now have another way to stay physically active all year round! The Center recently added a new Workout Room with brand-new exercise equipment.

“This is something our seniors have been advocating for  a few years and they are so excited to finally have this,” said Center Supervisor Andrea Lee. “This equipment will allow them to stay active and healthy even if it’s raining outside.”

The exercise equipment consists of a treadmill, elliptical, three recumbent bikes, two speed bikes, and an abdominal machine. The equipment is available to all Senior Center members on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, there will be an opportunity for seniors to join small workout groups.

“We want to make sure our seniors have all areas of health provided where it be mental or physical,” said Lee. “This is just another great resource to have them do just that.”

The Center is accepting new members. If you’re interested in applying, go to the Center at 132 Willie Smokie Glover Dr. during the week between 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
