Seniors at the Elaine H. Lucas Senior Center are staying busy with the many activities and opportunities happening there. We got an exclusive look into what’s happening at the Center and how you can get involved.

A couple of months ago, the Center got a brand-new exercise room to keep them in shape. This was something the seniors advocated for, and they got after a couple of years. The exercise equipment consists of a treadmill, elliptical, three recumbent bikes, two speed bikes, and an abdominal machine. The equipment is open to all Senior Center members during operating hours.

“This was a benefit to the senior community for various reasons,” said Senior Center Supervisor Andrea Lee. “Not only for health, but to be able to expand on giving our seniors a better quality of life.”

Every Monday through Friday, there are many activities to participate in such as playing pool, cards, chess, checkers, pottery, and arts and crafts. There are also different opportunities throughout the month to go on trips or take part in special activities at the Center.

They are currently accepting new members for a fee of $10 per fiscal year. You can sign up by going to the Center located at 32 Willie Smokie Glover Drive.
