Macon – A Bibb County Superior Court judge sentenced a 25-year-old Macon man to 20 years, 10 of them in prison, Monday in connection with a 2016 robbery at GameStop on Presidential Parkway in Macon.
Derrick Dwayne Lamb was found guilty of armed robbery and aggravated assault in a Nov. 8 bench trial.
Prosecutor Neil Halvorson presented evidence at the trial showing:
Lamb entered the store at about 10:20 a.m. on June 30, 2016, and appeared to be browsing merchandise as a customer before he pulled out a bottle of lighter fluid and squirted it on a clerk. Lamb then demanded money and at least twice threatened to set the clerk on fire if he didn’t comply with his demands.
The clerk gave Lamb money and Lamb left. Lamb, who wasn’t wearing a mask during the robbery, was later identified in a photo line-up as the man who’d robbed the store.
As part of Lamb’s sentence, he won’t be eligible for parole before completing his full 10 years in prison. Upon his release, he’ll begin 10 years of probation.
Speaking after the sentencing, Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney David Cooke said, “The clerk wasn’t just robbed. He was placed in fear for his life. Now Mr. Lamb will have 10 years to think about his actions while living behind bars.”
