Macon — Bibb County grand jurors indicted a 19-year-old Macon man Tuesday in the Oct. 19 shooting death of Jayvon Sherman.

Wesley Jamison Holt is charged with malice murder, aggravated assault, felony murder and violating Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. The indictment, filed Tuesday in Bibb County Superior Court, alleges Holt was associated with the Mafia street gang.

Sherman, 16, was found outside the old Winship Elementary School on Macon’s Beech Avenue.

An indictment is a charging document issued by grand jurors if the group determines probable cause exists for the case to move forward toward trial.

Each defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
