Bibb County grand jurors indicted a Macon man Tuesday on charges stemming from allegations he shot a dog in 2016.
Brandon Dakota Kitchens, 31, is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of an illegal weapon and criminal use of an article with an altered identification mark.
Kitchens is accused of shooting a dog May 10, 2016, using a sawed-off shotgun, despite being a convicted felon. The gun’s serial number had been removed, according to the indictment.
An indictment is a charging document issued by grand jurors if the group determines probable cause exists for the case to move forward toward trial. Each defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
