Fort Valley – A 22-year-old Alabama man was indicted Tuesday in connection with his father’s July 11, 2017, shooting death on Interstate 75 as the family was traveling through Peach County on their way home from a Florida vacation.

Deontae Leqwan Young, of Birmingham, is charged with murder in the death of 40-year-old Daniel Lee Young Jr., according to an indictment returned in Peach County Superior Court.

An indictment is a charging document issued by grand jurors if the group determines probable cause exists for the case to move forward toward trial.  Each defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
