If you needed a sign to become a mentor to someone in our community, here it is! Mayor Lester Miller proclaimed January as National Mentoring Month, alongside representatives from the Girls Dig Deeper Initiative (GDDI).

National Mentoring Month is an annual campaign to raise awareness of and celebrate the powerful impact of mentoring relationships, recruit new mentors, and encourage institutions to integrate quality mentoring into their policies and practices.

GDDI provides effective mentoring to underserved and vulnerable populations of young people which helps them confront challenges and enjoy improved mental health and social-emotional well- being. Mayor Miller encourages the public to get involved with GDDI, or any other local group that helps link young people in our community with mentors. You can read the full proclamation here.
