Hundreds of people from all around Macon-Bibb County took their pride and appreciation to the streets in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 16.

Like every year, people marched from the north, south, east, and west- coming from Booker T. Washington Community Center, Memorial Gym, Rosa Jackson Recreation Center, and Frank Johnson Recreation Center. They all met at City Hall where they heard from a few speakers, including Mayor Lester Miller. You can watch it here.

“Look around you. This is what Macon-Bibb County looks like,” said Mayor Miller. “People from all walks of life are gathered here today. We are joined together in a common fight for our community, for our children, our families, our friends, and neighborhoods.”

After the speeches, people walked over to Steward AME Chapel for its annual church service in honor of Dr. King. People also celebrated at Rosa Parks Square, where Macon Black Culture held a block party with food, music, and games for children.
