The ‘Silver Rights Movement’ aims to build financially strong communities by teaching their residents to be financially literate. Now, there’s hope for struggling families in Macon-Bibb. Operation HOPE, a nationwide organization, has opened a ‘Hope Inside’ center here. The counselors want to help families move from renting to home-ownership, get out of debt, become business owners, save money, and more.

It’s located inside the Buck Melton Community Center (190 Sessions Drive), and the services are free to anyone who may need them. The center is open Monday-Friday, from 9 am to 6 pm, and for more information or to set up an appointment, you can call (478) 741-9881.

Operation HOPE founder John Hope Bryant visited Macon-Bibb for the official grand opening of the center, and said the services are for anyone who “has too much month at the end of their money.”

Mayor Robert Reichert praised the efforts of the organization and said, “This is what they have been very successful in larger cities across the country doing. And we’ve convinced them to come into a mid-sized city, Macon-Bibb County, and we hope to replicate the same success they’ve had.”
