Students in the Georgia Civic Awareness Program for Students (GCAPS) got an inside look into Irving Tissue, a manufacturing company which produces premium household store brand paper products for many of North America’s top retailers.

Before the tour of how facial tissue, bathroom tissue, and paper towels are made here, Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA) Executive Director Stephen Adams gave a presentation to the 30 high school students about what MBCIA does and how they get major industries to invest in our County. Students had many questions about what it takes to get a company to call Macon home.

“The students were really engaging and interested in learning more about the industries in our backyard. It’s refreshing to see a young group of future leaders interested in what makes our community thrive,” said Adams.

GCAPS is conducted by Macon-Bibb County under the auspices of the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG),is a nonprofit instrumentality of Georgia’s county governments. Formed in 1914 with 19 charter county members, today ACCG serves as the consensus building, training, and legislative organization for all 159 county governments in the state.
