At the end of Macon-Bibb County’s Committee of the Whole Meeting on January 9, District 9 Commissioner Al Tillman announced he would be resigning his seat effective immediately. Media are invited to speak with him at the Macon Mall, lower-level entrance, on Sunday, January 14 at 4:00 p.m.

“Almost a decade ago, I sat down with my family to discuss the possibility of running for public office in the newly formed consolidated government. I’m forever grateful to my neighbors, the citizens of District 9, for entrusting me to voice their interests by electing me to office,” Commissioner Tillman wrote in his letter to the Commission and the public, which is included below. “In District 9, together, we’ve been able to expand Log Cabin to include a sidewalk and increase pedestrian safety; create Filmore Thomas Park, which provides a safe place for children, families, and the community to gather for fun; and set the foundation for reigniting the economic flame for Eisenhower corridor by establishing the Eisenhower Improvement District.”
