Atrium Health Navicent and Macon-Bibb County want to spread awareness for cervical cancer, and they did so by proclaiming January as Cervical Cancer Awareness Month in Macon-Bibb County.

Cervical cancer is a disease that strikes more than 11,500 American women each year. In 2023, the American Cancer Society (ACS) estimated that there would be about 13,960 new cases of invasive cervical cancer, leading to about 4,310 deaths.

Cervical cancer vaccines, such as the HPV vaccine, are available and provide formidable and effective means of preventing this disease. You can read more about it here.
