Firefighters receive state recognition

On Tuesday, February 6, members of our Fire Department made their way up to the State Capital to be recognized and honored by the Georgia State Firefighters Association (GSFA) for their exceptional dedication and service.  

 “I am so proud of all of our firefighters who continue to go above and beyond to serve not only this great fire department, but also the outstanding citizens in our community,” said Fire Chief Shane Edwards. “We’re incredibly proud of these individuals for their hard work, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to keeping our community safe.” 

  • Firefighter Robert Husted received the prestigious GSFA Rookie Firefighter of the Year award. 
  • Sergeant Carell Rembert Sr. was recognized as the GSFA Educator of the Year for his commitment to fire safety education. 
  • Lieutenant Arthur Parker was named the GSFA Instructor of the Year for his exemplary leadership in training our team. 
  • Lieutenant Joshua Brewer was honored as the GSFA Company Officer of the Year for his outstanding leadership and dedication.

The Georgia State Firefighters Association (GSFA), founded in 1952, is the largest and oldest fire service organization in the State of Georgia. GSFA provides members with an active network and resources for information, communication, and representation on a state and national level.
