Brendalyn Bailey to serve as District 9 Commissioner

Lifelong resident of District 9, Brendalyn Bailey, will take over the Commission seat after Commissioner Al Tillman resigned during the last Commission Meeting.  

Commissioner Tillman’s seat did not expire until December 31, 2024. According to the charter, the Commission has 20 days to appoint someone new to the seat or a special election would be held.   

She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Mercer University in Human Resources and a Master of Business from Wesleyan College. She has been a paraprofessional in the Bibb County School District as a substitute teacher and an instructor for Central Georgia Technical College. Bailey is a Democrat who was also the only person who ran against Commissioner Tillman in the 2020 election.
