It’s almost time for the world’s largest indoor pickleball facility to open its doors to the public! If you’re already working on your Christmas list, you may want to add a pickleball membership package to it. Mayor Lester Miller announced the different tiers for packages on Tuesday morning, as well as pricing for daily play. You can watch that here.

The membership packages have different levels for both individuals and families. You can see those below. Along with the packages, we also announced the first tournament, the Candy Cane Classic, hosted by the Southern Pickleball Association December 16-17. You can register here.

There is no advance qualifying needed, and people can sign up by clicking here. The cost is $60 for one event or $70 for two events. According to Paul Midkiff with Southern Pickleball, they hope to have more than 400 people playing during the two days. More than 250 people have already registered.

“From a tournament director’s standpoint, we don’t have to worry about rain, wind, or cold now. For players coming from out of town, they will know that weather isn’t going to keep them from playing,” said Midkiff. “Every other community with a vibrant pickleball club is going to want what Macon has.”

As we are making final touches to the facility, about 200 Macon Pickleball Association members tested out the courts on Saturday for the first time. From 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., members were able to play on the courts, enjoy the new amenities, and enjoy food and beer from Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen.

“It was wonderful to see an empty building brought back to life,” said Mayor Miller. “This was just a glimpse into what this facility is going to look like, and I know it’s just going to get better.”
