From Visit Macon – Visit Macon is hosting a week worth of local events to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week during May 7-13. Visitors and the local community can partake in a variety of events throughout the week that showcase all Macon has to offer. From our historic and photo worthy attractions, legendary live music, and notable filming locations, each event highlights what makes Macon unique.

“National Travel and Tourism Week is an annual celebration of the role of tourism in economic development and creating vibrant communities. In Macon, we are celebrating the many industries that bring the city to life and make it an attractive destination for our visitors” says Aaron Buzza, Senior Vice President & COO at Visit Macon. “We hope everyone will join us in celebrating visitors, our partners and the success we’ve had together.

Sunday, May 7

Launch of the Macon Photo Spots Trail

Download the free Tour Macon app on Apple or Google Play, find your favorite photo location, take a selfie, post it and tag @visitmacon #MaconMemories #WhereSoulLives. All posts between Sunday, May 7 and Wednesday, May 10 will be entered to win free tickets to the Thursday night show at Grants Lounge.

Tuesday, May 9

Public Service Appreciation Day

9am – 4pm at Visit Macon

All medical staff, law enforcement, fire, educators, and county employees are invited to stop by Visit Macon to grab a refreshment and snack in thanks for your work to keep Macon safe and welcoming for all of our visitors.

I AM Macon Training

10am at Visit Macon

Free and open to the public

I AM Macon is an interactive customer service program designed to unite and educate the business community about the branding of Macon as a superior visitor and meeting destination. Understanding how to reach out and communicate to visitors will help both your business and the city as a whole. Attendees can RSVP here.

Wednesday, May 10

Fundamentals of Google Business Profiles

3pm at Visit Macon and via Zoom

Free

Open to any local hotels, restaurants and attractions who are looking to make their online presence more accessible to visitors. During the webinar attendees will learn:

  • How their business is surfaced in Google search and travel products
  • Claiming and verifying your business profile
  • Keeping core business information current
  • Overview of tools available in Google

The Guardian calls acclaimed singer and guitarist Jake Xerxes Fussell “one of the great magpies of American song, collecting forgotten, tarnished gems with a folklorist’s zeal.” The Columbus, GA native has released four albums, including 2022’s Good and Green Again, calledthe most conceptually focused, breathtakingly rendered and enigmatically poignant record” of his catalog.
