Recently, the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) visited City Hall to learn about our consolidated government, including how it’s politically set up, what different departments do, what types of programs are available for youth, how they can get help starting businesses, how it supports community efforts, and more.

“It’s always great to host students here in City Hall and let them have a behind-the-scenes and personal look into what our government does every day,” says County Manager Dr. Keith Moffett, who talked with them about the importance of citizenship and how the consolidated government is structured.

The Recreation Department talked with the students about how their programs have changed over the years to better provide interesting options for them.

“A lot of kids come to us thinking we only offer the standard sports like basketball and football, so this was a great chance to let them know we have a communications program, boxing gym, BMX trails, a skate park, and so much more,” says Recreation Director Robert Walker.

Also talking with students that morning were Office of Small Business Affairs Director Charise Stephens and Office of Community Affairs Executive Director Dr. Henry Ficklin. Ms. Stephens spoke on entrepreneurship and how Macon-Bibb supports small businesses, and Dr. Ficklin spoke with them about being a part of the community and how students can get involved.
