On Saturday, November 20, Commissioner Bill Howell, in partnership with U Create Macon, held another Saturday Morning Breakfast Club (SMBC) for kids in the Historic Pleasant Hill neighborhood.

Several volunteers helped Commissioner Howell and his wife prepare pancakes, sausage patties, and eggs for more than 80 children and adults.

“Doing things like the Saturday Morning Breakfast Club is a great gift. I’m thankful to be able to give back to the community. and the success it has brought to this community,” said Commissioner Howell. “It may seem like just a breakfast, but I’m hoping it makes a big difference for these children.”

Commissioner Howell started this club in 2019, but took a pause because of COVID-19. He brought it back in July 2021 and hosted the last one of the year this past Saturday. The Club is specifically catered to children in our community. They not only get a hearty breakfast once a month, but organizations such as U Create Macon provide additional resources to them.

“It’s a way for us to feed the kids, but also give them other resources and to let them know the community loves them,” said U Create Macon Founder Charise Stephens. “I love the kids. Anytime we can show them that we love and appreciate them, we want to do that.”

Commissioner Howell plans to bring this event back next year and hopes to host it every month. If you would like to volunteer or donate, call Commissioner Howell at (478) 550-2712.
