Macon – A Macon man pleaded guilty to armed robbery Thursday in a Jan. 10, 2017, home invasion in north Macon’s Barrington Hall subdivision.
Quatrell Jamar Spearman, 21, was sentenced to 20 years, 13 of them in prison, as part of a plea agreement.
If the case had gone to trial, prosecutor John Regan would have presented evidence showing:
A woman was robbed at gunpoint by a man and a woman as she was getting out of her car in the garage of her Laurel Place home. Her husband tried to come to her aid, but he also was held at gunpoint.
The woman’s cash and debit card were taken. Investigators determined the debit card was used soon after the robbery.
An investigation identified Spearman as one of the robbers. He was arrested Jan. 12, 2017.
A case remains pending against Spearman’s co-defendant, 22-year-old Jasmine Byrd. Byrd is presumed innocent unless and until she is proven guilty in a court of law.
Speaking after the hearing, Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney David Cooke said, “A home is a sacred space where every person has a right to feel safe. Mr. Spearman stole that from his victims and now he must pay the price.”
