Macon – Bibb County grand jurors indicted a man Tuesday in the January 2018 fatal shooting of a Macon woman and a string of crimes near Mercer University’s main and law school campuses.
Quentin James Sanders, 41, of Montezuma, is charged with malice murder and two counts of aggravated assault in the Jan. 8, 2018, shooting death of 49-year-old Ida Mae Ford on Winship Street, according to an indictment filed in Bibb County Superior Court.
According to the indictment:
Sanders additionally is charged with armed robbery and kidnapping in the Jan. 10, 2018, robbery at gunpoint a man inside a Tattnall Square Park restroom.
He faces four counts of aggravated assault stemming from allegations he fired a gun toward four people at Mercer Village Jan. 10, 2018.
Sanders is charged with hijacking a motor vehicle and armed robbery on allegations he took a Honda Odyssey van from a woman by force while in possession of a gun on Coleman Hill Jan. 12, 2018. He also allegedly took money from the woman, according to the indictment.
An indictment is a charging document issued by grand jurors if the group determines probable cause exists for the case to move forward toward trial. Each defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
