The third Convenience Center is officially opening Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 1520 Ninadel Drive. Mayor Lester Miller, Commissioners, Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful, and the Solid Waste Department held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday to celebrate the opening. You can watch the full ceremony here.

“Our goal is to make it easier for people to drop off their debris, old furniture, tires, and more, and to help reduce illegal dumping in our neighborhoods,” said Mayor Lester Miller.

“We want to see your trash and debris here, at this facility,” said Solid Waste Manager Maurice Jackson. “We don’t want to see it on the side of the road or on empty lots. Bring it here or to our other two locations. There is no excuse. We are better than that.”

The Center will operate Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Operating hours are subject to change, depending on weather, holidays, and other extenuating circumstances.

People can bring, free of charge: yard debris (no logs or tree stumps), bagged household garbage, building material, tires (limit of 4 per person), furniture, and recycling. To use the Center, a person must be a Macon-Bibb County resident and bring a valid driver’s license of I.D.

This is the third of five Convenience Centers being built around the County. Since the first two opened, we have collected more than 150,000 pounds of trash at the centers. The first opened in March 2022 at 1010 11th Street, near the old landfill. That Center is open seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The second Center is at 4214 Fulton Mill Road (down the road past Animal Welfare), and it is open Thursday through Sunday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
